Circumambulatory Structure
A fragment of a zellige poem rendered in fused glass seed beads seems to be suspended in mid air as it is affixed to three tall glass panels. Within the panels, a bowl of water suspended from the ceiling drips onto a heated metal disk. The water evaporates the second it touches the disk, dissipating around the room. The sound, smell, and sight serve to create a sacred space which houses an artist book within it. The structure, and all its constituents, embody the idea of “circumambulation”, a trans-religious exercise.
