Since July 2019, I have engraved two pebbles from every site I have practiced my sect in. One of the two pebbles is held on to. The other is dropped off at the next site I visit. The action of laser engraving creates a chemical change wherein the composition of the minerals is brought to the surface, and the geology of the land I occupy is made accessible. I have occupied these sites as an immigrant, as a traveller, as a settler, and more. The ever growing collection of engraved pieces of the Earth are turned into wearable amulets that bear traces of my passage from, journey to, and pursuit of, ‘somewhere’.
